41 km Bike Loop

On Saturday I went on a biking adventure with two of the people we did the bike rally with... Dean and Margaret Ann. Kenny had some errands he had to do so he didn't join us.

We did a big loop around the basin in our city and totalled 41.67 km! It was a nice ride and included a road that, to my knowledge, I have never been on before. It went along a pretty lake and nice properties.

A little bit before the half way mark we stopped and had a snack. It was right by one of my favorite food markets so I stopped in and bought myself a treat to eat for lunch...a pakora. Have you ever had one? SO good. It's an Indian patty made of cauliflower, spinach, onion, chickpeas and spices.

We took the ferry back across the Harbour to meet Kenny for lunch. I had never been on this particular ferry, so it was fun to finally go on it. The weather was beautiful so sitting outside was a must!

It was a great biking adventure; great weather and great company. Not gonna lie, my butt is pretty sore, but I really enjoy biking with these guys and we're already discussing another trip...

Just in case you missed my Multitude Monday post yesterday, here it is!

Questions:
I'm looking into getting a road bike...what are some musts that I should look for?
What did you do for Labour Day yesterday?

  1. Sounds like a fun weekend. Dean and I went on a long bike ride yesterday, too. That pakora sounds delicious!

  3. Great job on your bike ride! I bought my road bike a little over a year ago (it's a Fuji Roubaix ACR) and I LOVE it. I didn't know much before so I needed lots of help from the bike guy at the shop. My bike is super light and fast because it has carbon forks. I'd love to be able to get a bike with more carbon, but it's much more $$. Also, look for a compact gearing system. It offers a lower gear selection in order to make it easier to climb hills without changing the top speed (basically its an easier way to shift as you go from fast downhill to slow uphill). I notice a HUGE difference in this when I am doing triathlons and am neck and neck with someone else. My bike just shifts so easily and I pull ahead :-)
