Olympic Highlights (for me)

Let me tell you, vacation from my new job came at an opportune time this summer. OLYMPICS! I have been watching them quite a bit, especially for someone who is rarely in front of the t.v (with the exception of Wednesday evening for Modern Family).

I have been in complete awe of Usain Bolt of Jamaica. Don't get me wrong,  GO CANADA, but Bolt is incredible to watch. He is cocky, yes, but he effortlessly runs the 100m and 200m. He almost looks relaxed as he crosses the finish line.  Him along with Yohan Blake have most definitely made Jamaica proud! (well, I'm assuming that's a safe bet to say?...)

Obviously, Kara Goucher. She is my running mentor and it was awesome to watch her run in the marathon. I say in because Canada t.v stopped the coverage right after the 10th person (Shalane Flanagan) and went to commercial break and from commercial break went to an entirely different sport. I could see Kara coming up to the finish line when they stopped the coverage, so I missed the caring moment between her and Shalane. I can't seem to find any coverage on it either, so this picture does nicely. Well done, girls! I can only dream of a sub 4 hour marathon, let alone 2:26. Speedy!

Damian Warner of Canada who participated in the decathlon. I'm not gonna lie, prior to the Olympics I have never heard of a decathlon until Kenny was glued to Warner's results. I must have asked him 672 times what it was called because I just couldn't seem to remember. decathlon. decathlon. decathlon. Got it. Please tell me you haven't heard of it either. Ok, good... It is a race consisiting of 10 track and field activities over 2 consecutive days.

Let me boast about this fellow Canadian for just a sec. He is 22 and has only done 10 decathlons before going to the Olympics! He had hoped to place in the top 10, but instead placed in the top 5. Seriously, this guy has so much potential!

Women's Soccer. Ok, I have American friends so I'm not going to get into it. Let's just leave it at this: it was a great, edge-of-your-seat game and we played very well. Americans obviously played well too because they got gold, but I have to hand it to the Canadians and their new trainer who got them into tip top shape and made them play well. We got a bronze and a gold would be amazing. Rio, girls, Rio...

Kate Middleton. Just hear me out. Unless you've been living under a rock (or unless you don't have Pinterest) you'll know She and Will (and Harry) have been in attendance almost everyday at some event  at The Olympics. I follow a Kate Middleton Fashion board on Pinterest and everytime I go on Pinterest there are recent photos of her, Will and (of course) Harry enjoying the games. Usually Kate and Harry are up to no good laughing about something while Will is contently watching the games. I really love Kate and Harry, they seem like genuine brother and sister who have a great time together. (saying Will + Kate are cute together just goes without saying...)

I feel like the Kate Pinterest board is kind of like an Olympic sport now because everyday I get to see her recent outfits and tid-bits of her life. It's pretty fun:)

...and just so you know that She is just like us...
She gets her own groceries (unless that is a grocery helper...)

Questions:
Highlights of the Olympics so far??
Do you love Kate and Harry's mischevious ways? I think it's so much fun, Harry seems like a total blast.

  2. Kate's legs are so teeeny tiny! And I agree, I can't even run a sub 4 hour marathon so it is sooo AmAZING what Kara and Shalane do.

Soccer yesterday was amazing, right? (and I'm happy Canada got a medal because they are really good and gave the US a run for their money) Made me miss playing. Also, my friend is on the US women's water polo team (she's the goalie) and they won gold yesterday so that was pretty cool

  4. Love the pic of Kara and Shalene. Definitely made me cry. The disappointment on their faces is sad to see but wow they are both amazing.
