This actually applies to me today! My first two hygiene interviews didn't work out for me and I was so dissapointed. I called the office I was hoping and dreaming (maybe a little exaageration) of working in to check in when I was supposed to do my working interview. They very abruptly told me the position has been filled. Thanks, office, for making me wait 6 weeks to hear that. You guys are a real treat.
Good thing the park was empty because I may or may not have cried. a lot. I don't know about you, but I don't like getting rejected or left out, etc. It hurts way down deep. Good ole' Kenny came to my rescue when he came home and assured me I wasn't a loser. ;)

Yesterday I went to talk with a Dentist who I had an interview for last Friday. I was up against 2 other girls in my class (which was nice because everyone else chose more experienced people over me) and one of them is a good friend. Awkward? Nah. I felt the meeting went well -it is a really small office, but seems to be a fairly easy going place.
There are some cons to this job...it's downtown (a sucky commute), I'm the only hygienist (I wanted to be in an office with more than one so I could learn from them a little) and it's old (like me, jk!), but on the other hand there are some pros! They pay really well, they match your RRSP!!!!!! and they give you an hour and a half with patients (that's fabulous for a new grad!)
I got an e-mail this morning from the guy who interviewed me to tell me that the Dentist chose me!! Full time hours, Monday to Thursday starting on July 30th! Thank you, Lord! Seriously, what a relief!

It's a great day. I got a job, it's 30 degrees outside, I'm heading to the lake, and a free new drink at Starbucks. Go get one!!

ReplyDeleteSO proud of you Heid!!! Totally exciting to get such a good job! I'm sure you will love it!! Yeah I hate that feeling of rejection. I had an interview once and thought it went really well and felt so sure that I had the job and then they called me and told me I didn't get it. I cried and cried from disappointed. Anyways, guess what? The next day they called me back and told me that I GOT the job!! The girl they had chosen (who had more experience) couldn't start for 2 weeks so they offered it to me! I was pumped :) I worked for them for 3 1/2 years and loved it! Soooo you just never know huh?! Rach
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Hide!! When applying for residency, I got a ton of rejections. Sucks...but everything worked out for the best and I ended up where I wanted to go : ) The rejetions were still disappointing, though.
